Wedding Reportage

Wedding Reportage

When faced with a wedding photoshoot, a photographer is faced with a choice: follow the old school and work with posed photos or follow a more recent trend and adopt the photo-reportage technique, typical of photo journalism.
When we began we all chose the simpler approach, namely the pose.
In this case, much of the work is given to the people in the photos. They have to do their best to look good, but, as we all know, the result is often disappointing as people feel uncomfortable in this situation since they are not professional models.
The transition to the reportage technique was almost natural. The results speak for themselves, however, what does it really mean to make a reportage of a wedding?
It really means that the approach adopted is the opposite of the one described above.
A photo-reportage requires the photographer to commit 100% to the work, to be always alert and ready to capture the highlights, and maybe to create interesting situations. All this has to feel natural and spontaneous for the bride and groom.
What we often hear the brides and grooms say when they view our photos is: "I did not notice anything." The job of the photographer is to be present yet discreet, and "to be camouflaged" so as not to put pressure on the couple and make sure everything looks natural and spontaneous.
The photos shown on this page are from Enzo and Patrizia's wedding. It was held last September and was almost entirely realized with the wedding reportage style.
Out of fun, we put together this black-and-white photo gallery, although we believe even colour photos would have been a nice choice.

Marco and MariaElena - Wedding on the Puccini Lake

Marco and MariaElena - Wedding on the Puccini Lake

The elegance of a wedding depends also on the attention to detail as well as on the care taken in organizing all its aspects.
Marco and MariaElena's wedding is a perfect example of this.
Villa Orlando - located on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli in Torre del Lago - was the venue both for the civil ceremony and the reception.
This would have already been enough to photograph a beautiful event.
The decorations, the flowers and the elegance of the whole place added to this already stunning venue plenty of romance and poetry.
Everything was prepared in detail and the result was undoubtedly impressive and exciting.
The applause of the many guests at the time of the promises gave the start to a party that did not stop until late at night.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom left the guests for half an hour to take a walk with us on the lake's shore and then in the halls of Villa Orlando - accesses was kindly granted by the owner.
The couple enjoyed posed photography for a while, allowing us to experiment with the lights and to take original and unique photos.
The numerous friends present at the party were the added value of the wedding. They made the atmosphere cheerful and fun, something the guests will remember for a long time indeed.
